Independent Living Support,
Built Around the Individual

Myloda House provides Independent Living Support tailored to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We focus on what matters in everyday life: building practical skills, supporting informed choices, strengthening community connections, and shaping support around each person’s goals, routines, and preferences.

What Is Independent Living Support?

Independent Living Supports (ILS), formerly known as In-Home Supports (IHS), is an individualized, one-to-one service designed to help adults establish, maintain, and succeed in an independent living arrangement in the community. In accordance with Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS) requirements, these supports are provided for less than 24 hours per day and help individuals live as independently as possible in the least restrictive setting appropriate to their needs.

At Myloda House, we use a person-centered approach that emphasizes teaching, coaching, and skill development. Instead of simply completing tasks for an individual, we support each person in learning to do as much as possible for themselves while providing assistance when needed. Services may take place at home, in the community, or in other everyday settings and are tailored to each person’s goals, routines, preferences, abilities, and support needs.

Our Core Service Areas

Independent Living Support looks different for each person, but the focus remains practical: building everyday skills, strengthening confidence, supporting autonomy, and helping individuals participate more fully in daily life and community life.

Person-Centered Planning

Support begins with understanding the person. We take time to learn each individual’s goals, routines, strengths, preferences, and support needs so services are shaped around real life.

Independent Living Skills

By strengthening routines in home life, decision-making, safety, and community access, we help individuals build lasting independence and greater confidence.

Community Participation

Connection matters. We support individuals in accessing community places, activities, resources, and opportunities that reflect their interests, goals, and sense of belonging.

Health, Safety & Wellness

Staying on top of appointments, safety, and health decisions is easier with the right support. We help individuals build informed, consistent habits that support daily wellness and stability.

Voice & Self-Advocacy

Being heard matters. We support individuals in expressing preferences, asking questions, making choices, and taking an active role in decisions that affect their lives.

Collaboration & Coordination

Good support does not happen in isolation. We stay connected with individuals, families, guardians, DDS teams, and support networks so services remain aligned, and consistent.
